About me
My name is Katy Fohrman. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been in the field since 2015. I received my BA in Psychology from Lawrence University and my Masters of Social Work from University of Illinois Chicago.
My previous work experience includes nearly a decade in refugee resettlement. In this role, I led a diverse team of practitioners and service providers who utilized a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to care for newly arrived refugees and immigrants.
I also have extensive experience providing clinical supervision to social workers, clinicians, managers, and interns.
My Approach
I believe that central to therapy is a trusting relationship. As your therapist I hope to build a supportive and non-judgmental space where you feel safe to share what has brought you to therapy.
I utilize an integrative approach that is tailored to your specific needs. I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Strengths-Based methods.
Our sessions will focus on identifying the areas in your life that are bringing you emotional pain. Together we will work towards developing greater insight into your patterns of thinking, emotions and behavior.
